6th grade math and Team LeaderAthens City SchoolsI have been an East Tennessean my whole life! Athens, Tennessee, has been my home for over thirty years. I do consider Chattanooga my home away from home as I lived there for five years attending UTC. I work for Athens City Schools as a sixth grade math and science teacher. I am a product of this school system and love seeing this system grow. My husband is the Assistant Principal at Athens City Middle School. Together, we have a long-haired dachshund, Artie, and a Jack Russell terrier mix, Henry.
At Athens City Middle School, I serve as the sixth grade team leader and as the sixth grade math lead. Other leadership positions I've held are cheerleading coach, track coach, and AEA president. I earned a Bachelors of Science in Child and Family Studies from UTC in 2012. I found that my passion has always been with educating and shaping the minds of children. Upon this realization, I applied to Lee University and entered their MAT program. I graduated from here in May 2015, and was hired at Athens City Schools in July of 2015. Being a life long learner has always been a goal of mine. This goal helped me make the decision to go back to UTC and earn my EdS. I try to surround myself with strong leaders, whether at school, church, or in the community. I am always eager to learn a new skill, especially if that helps me become a stronger and better leader. |
