Executive DirectorGreater Memphis Workforce Development BoardAmber is a native Memphian, passionate and equity focused leader and currently the Executive Director for the Greater Memphis Workforce Development Board. She is a Vanderbilt University graduate with over 17 years of workforce and economic development experience, previously serving as Project Director at the American Job Center and Director of Workforce Development for the Greater Memphis Chamber. Amber was featured in Memphis Voyager, Canvas Rebel and Bold Journey magazines for her contributions in workforce development. In May 2022, Amber was recognized as a S.H.E. (Strong, Hands-On, and Elegant) Legend for Business and Corporate. In December 2022, Amber received the Workforce Mid-South President’s Award.
Amber is Vice President of the Board of Directors for Dress for Success Memphis and serves on TCAT Memphis Institutional Advisory Committee. She is an active member of Riverside Missionary Baptist Church. She is also a member of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc, where she served as journalist from 2022-2024. In 2023, Amber participated as a fellow in the inaugural Aspen Institute Memphis Workforce Leadership Academy. In this fellowship, Amber’s project team focused on bridging the gap between K-12, post-secondary and industry and making work-based education a standard part of education for all. In 2024, Amber was an Economic Mobility Fellow for the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) Foundation where she created a regional action plan focused on workforce development for juvenile justice. Amber enjoys spending time with family, sports, travelling, DJing and culinary arts. In addition, she is a servant of her community and believes in uplifting all populations, especially youth and justice involved to lead to economic prosperity. Amber has been happily married to Asa for 16+ years and they have two beautiful children. |
